The Challenge
A primary school in North-West Leicestershire reached out with a unique request: they wanted a bespoke playground trail that combined markings from different trail designs, alongside a specific new component—a lazy eight—that wasn’t shown in our brochure or on our website. The trail needed to cater to children with diverse needs, such as ADHD and ASC, while also being fun and engaging for all students during playtime. The school also required the project to fit into a tight installation schedule during the holidays to avoid disrupting classes.
The school had one of their pupils draw out their vision for the space, and sent it over to us. We instantly loved the design and wanted to help bring it to life.
At Thermmark, we love creating bespoke designs, so we were thrilled to take on this challenge! Our experienced design team worked closely with the school, using student drawings as inspiration to create a completely tailored trail. Combining elements from different design packages, including the custom lazy eight, we ensured the markings reflected the school’s vision.
Once the initial design was shared, we maintained open communication with the school, making small adjustments to the plan as requested. Our team worked around the school’s schedule, ensuring the installation happened during the holidays for minimal disruption. On installation day, our friendly team made last-minute tweaks to ensure everything was perfect before finalising the markings.

The Result
The result was a vibrant, bespoke playground trail that exceeded expectations. The markings catered to the needs of children with ADHD and ASC, offering both structure and sensory stimulation. They also provided an exciting new space for creative play and physical activity during break times.

Sophie listened to what we needed and the design team followed our students’ drawings really closely, bringing together items from different packages to fit our needs. A lazy eight was also created which was not in the catalogue. When the initial plan was sent to us, some small alterations were made very quickly as required.
Thermmark worked to fit in with suitable installation dates when the children were on holiday, and the installers were friendly and helpful, taking time to make a couple of last-minute adjustments when the design was laid out. The whole process was quick, efficient, and friendly, and the children are all very excited to have such a great new layout on the playground. It will be used to support children with a range of needs such as ADHD and ASC… and just for fun at playtimes!”
